Bickram Ghosh has already proved himself to be a master in Tabla and fusion music. He has taken his music to new heights and has a fan following internationally. With years of experience and the love for music in 2014 he started the Bickram Ghosh Academy of Performing Arts.

Based on a modernized version of the traditional 'Guru-shishya parampara', these 'Gurukuls' or centers for learning performing arts offer training in vocals, Rabindrasangeet, musical instruments like the sarod, sitar, table, drums, keyboard, guitar and dance forms such as  Kathak, Odissi, Bharatnatyam, etc. Currently there are 3 centers in Kolkata with over 400 students learning music and dance. More than half of the present students are children, but the Academy is getting a good number of elderly people as well, many of whom have had no prior training in music.

“The Academy is our child and we give it as much as we can and I wish it to flourish in future”, said Alokparna Ghosh, the well-known classical dancer who is also a teacher in BGAPA. This initiative has given the right music space and culture to bring out the best in the students who are enrolled here.

Bickram has performed on four albums that were nominated for Grammies including George Harrison's Brainwashed. He played on "Full Circle" with Pt. Ravi Shankar which won Shankar a Grammy. And he also has successful solo albums such as  Beyond Rhythmscape, Folktail, Drum Invasion. Kingdom of Rhythm, Interface, Electro classical, Transformation and others. The son of the illustrious tabla maestro Pt. Shankar Ghosh and well-known vocalist Sanjukta Ghosh, Bickram learnt the nuances of Carnatic percussion from the great Maestro of the mridangam Pandit S. Sekhar. Today he is a role model for his students and for all those who love music.
