Swoon By Eating Delectable Parsi Specialties At The Westin Kolkata

As a new year commenced with Navroz, The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat brought the celebrations for everyone in Kolkata to enjoy. Seasonal Tastes, their all – day – dining, is hosting the Parsi Food Festival, ‘Sagan Nu Patru Jamva Chalo Ji’, from 22nd March till 31st March 2019.  The property is bringing to its guests the flavors from the community’s kitchen with a specialty chef from Mumbai, Ms. Mahrukh Mogrelia, who will transport the best of authentic Parsi delicacies to the city.

Highlighting the concept of Parsi Cuisine, the menu of the festival has been designed by Chef Mahrukh Mogrelia.  She is a 5th generation member of the Parsi Family from Iran, has been cooking for close to 30 years and showcasing the delights of Parsi food across the globe. The Mumbai resident has been welcoming guests to her ancestral home and preparing delicious Parsi meals for years now. She’s also been conducting cooking classes for those keen on learning a few dishes.

The menu will be laid out as a part of the buffet with a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options leaving guests spoilt for choice. Dig into the traditional flavors which have been perfected over years in Parsi households like ‘Akuri’ and ‘Par Eda’, Patrela Jhinga’, ‘Patra ni Macchi’, ‘Fish Patiyo’, ‘Saas Ni Macchi’, ‘Salli Boti’, ‘Pulao Dal’, ‘Jhiga Curry Rice’, ‘Parsi Pulao’, ‘Dhanshak’. Chef Mahrukh’s signature dish, The Circle of Life, was created a few years ago specially for Navroz symbolizing joyful abundance. It has mashed potato, which comes from under the earth, to minced mutton and chicken, also layered with green peas. Green is the color of abundance in Persian Parsi cuisine. The integrity and the simplicity of the hand grounded minced mutton finds compatibility with the Roasted chicken in the dish, with the subtle flavors of mash potatoes to compliment the meat.

Though Parsi food is meat-heavy, Chef Mahrukh is more than happy to find vegetarian substitutes, and the same has been incorporated in the spread, for Vegetarians to enjoy. Apart from the food, the ambience at the all-day dining restaurant will be done up in true Parsi style.

Relish authentic and scrumptious Parsi desserts like ‘Lagan Nu Custard’, ‘Caramel Custard Parsi Style’, ‘Sweet Sev with Matka Dahi’, ‘Rawa Halwa’, ‘Badam ka Halwa’ and lots more to add a sweet ending to the meal.

Don’t forget to drop in to The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat to brace yourself for a perfect Parsi delight.
