Poila Boisakh is not just any other occasion in Bengal. It is an emotion. Marked with joy, enthusiasm and hope, it symbolizes a fresh start is beckoning, for one to achieve all his dreams. It is a day of fresh promises to oneself, and to shrug off the weariness of the world and be hopeful, positive and definitely happier.

The first Poila Boisakh at Raajkutir, they decided to take full advantage of this Bengali propensity for nostalgia by recreating in the colonial cuisine, every aspect of what it means to be a Bengali; to be amidst those wonderful times when music, poetry and the arts flourished in ‘Sonar Bangla’, while devouring the lost cuisine of the era would be the perfect way to celebrate this occasion.

So walk in, to simulate your taste buds, in this quaint Raajbari, decked up to reminisce the times gone by and savour the forgotten delicacies meticulously curated from the cookbooks of royal family of zamindar’s at the East India Room. PoilaBoisakh’s ‘The Colonial Table’ is sure to be a royal feast at East India Room, comprising of interactive appetizers from the chef’s station followed by a delectable meal which would be served by our maître de hotel and, last but not the least, the dessert assiette trolley which will be rolled down to choose your favorites from.

Start with ‘AamPora Shorbot’ or ‘Beler Ghol’ on welcome. As you take your seat in East India Room, a choice of appetizers will be served to you- ‘English Origin Fish N Chips’, or something with local flavours ‘Raja Nrishinghoprotap’s Dungar Chicken’, ‘Old Dhaka City Jali Kebab’and‘Dhakai Porota’. Should your taste buds crave for something with the best of both worlds, we have ‘Portuguese Bandel Cheese Malakoff’ for you.

Moving on to the main course, you will be spoilt for choice with the variety of dishes. From the delicate ‘Tiffin Box Bhappa Chingri’ to the flavoursome ‘ChittagongerMurgi’ and the wholesome ‘Colonial Mutton Dak Bungalow’and ‘Nashipur Palacer Kolaiaer Dal’. The vegetarian fare is envious with ‘Tostori Mocha’, ‘Phulkopi Roast’and‘Dhakai Pulao’.

Bengal loves its sweet and we decided to leave no stones unturned with that course. Choose or pick all from the Dessert Assiette Trolley with mouth-watering MishtiMukh like ‘Makha Sondesh, TilChhai’, ‘Sor Doi, ‘Sakthigarher Langcha’, ‘Narkol Kheer Diyae Patisapta’, ‘Black Forest Pudding’ and ‘Caramel Custard’.

PoilaBoisakh isn’t just about food, but it is also about music and fun. Enjoy some Baul-gaan or relive your Durga Puja moments with Dhunuchinaach with dhak, dhol and kashi. Raajkutir is all set to make your New Year special.  It is Raajkutir’s first, so here’s wishing everyone a Shubho Noboborsho!
