Punit Balana presented “MAYA”, an ethereal collection (inspired by the character Maya Memsaab) with extravagant detailing at The Studio during Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019.
Unveiling the range of ensembles that were modern and classy, abstract prints were teamed with linear shapes, as well as fluid designs, to add drama and intrigue to the collection.
Effortlessly blending unstitched expressionism with tailored deconstruction, Chanderi, silk and mulmul were seamlessly merged to create opulent pieces. With a color palette as interesting as the silhouettes, there were soothing whites, indigos and ice blues, ideal for the Indian summer.
Evoking style and comfort, the collection with its high-octane creativity had a versatile range of outfits. From trench coats to wrap around skirts, cropped tops and Indian wear, this dreamy feminine line of separates had all the right ingredients to set the mood. The dhoti styled sari having asymmetrically placed geometric prints with a halter neck blouse was an interesting mix. To pull the ensembles together were printed block heels and mojdis complementing the looks.
The very stunning actress Karisma Kapoor graced the runway in a full skirt white anarkali with an embroidered torso, along with tassels at the back and a sheer printed dupatta. Her entire look defined the collection perfectly: deliciously decadent and functionally fashionable.

Pushing the clock back into time, the designer Neha Agarwal’s, label ‘Agami’s’ collection “KORA” at The Studio during Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019, was a memorable fashion offering, that was a fitting ode to the late artist “S.H. Raza” and would be treasured items in every woman’s wardrobe.
Aiming to create a sense of drama and texture, the silhouettes were a refreshing take on contemporary paintings of Raza, especially the “Bindu”.
Geometric patterns entwined with 3D fabric appliqué work, allured to the juxtaposition of flamboyance with simplicity, grandeur with elegance.
The show opened with a white lehenga with a fur hem, perfectly matched with a fur blouse. The line of colorful embroidery on the white sheer dupatta completed the look with a pop of fun.

From a bevy of swirling lehengas to the smorgasbord of saris in pastel hues, with the most sensational weaves, block prints along with edgy cuts were used, to delight the hearts of the traditional dressers. Beautiful blends of silks and organzas shimmered radiantly under the ramp lights in intricate weaves, creating a sensation on the ramp.
Versatile Indian actress, Soha Ali Khan, graced the ramp in an all-white ensemble – flared palazzos, a sheer tunic-cum-jacket with a long train all having ruffles, tassels and light embroidery to add texture.
