Plush 28 – A Vegetarian Delight in Salt Lake

Situated in the quiet and calm streets of Salt Lake, Kolkata, is Plush 28. A pure vegetarian joint with subtle and classy interiors it has a multi-cuisine menu with innovative touches added to even basic dishes.

The restaurant has been a concoction of four friends for the lack of truly family restaurants without a bar and a vegetarian kitchen. From a friendly staff to a classy ambience it has it all. Huge windows that create a European-looking interior is just bliss… specially in the monsoons.

It also has a lounge area that seats 30-35 people where one can have private parties and chilled-out sessions with friends.

As I sat by the window and sipped on a perfect minestrone soup, I forgot I was in Kolkata. I dug into the most delicious and soft paneer tikka with papad coating. Needless to say it was lip smacking good! The other starter that took me by surprise was Chilly Pineapple. The name itself is an oxymoron. The sweet and spicy flavor of this dish leaves a taste that stays for long.

In the main course section from the North Indian cuisine section the Dal Makhani was a must along with that Paneer Kadhai and The Dry Fruits vegetables. The lentils were cooked to perfection, the paneer soft and tangy but my favorite dish was the dry fruit one with cashew-nut gravy. I must say I haven’t found dry fruits cooked to perfection ever before.

The breads were steaming hot and soft just the way I asked for it to be. One can order anything from North Indian to Continental to Chinese and take my word, you will not be disappointed.

In the continental section the Veg-au-Gratin and Lasagne is what I tried and they were appropriately cheesy and saucy! The spread and menu boasts of all culinary dishes one may want to have in its pure vegetarian form.

The mocktails were in the most attractiveness colors that one can see and tasted amazing as well. I ordered Thunderbolt that was in purple color which was nice and refreshing. The other mocktails that looked tempting were the Popcorn-Caramel shake.

My all-time favorite Sizzling Brownie just took the cake… literally!! In case you don’t like chocolate you can settle for a Tutty-Fruity full of goodness of fruits and with the taste of ice cream.

As a foodie I must say Plush 28 fits comfortably into the food category and is a perfect destination for vegetarians and people looking to try something innovative. So if you wish to change your regular step- outs you can think of Plush as an option and trust me you will not be disappointed.
