Pancham Er Adday Music Cafe

While attending the Art Lane Festival recently held in Kolkata, I discovered this new music cafe on Hindustan which is dedicated to R.D Burman with live music playing every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evenings.

The place is open from 9 am so if you are in South Kolkata and wanting to catch up with friends in the morning or have a breakfast meeting, then this was the right place. It is a cozy and friendly place spread over two floors. The veranda has a swing with a small table in front and the seating arrangement is a mixture of both formal as well as informal.

As you climb up the stairs there is an array of designer sarees, jewelry and others products that not only add to the decor but also make you stop to take a second look. The saris specially caught my eye and made me stop for a while before I reached the cafe floor. (On your way up you will also see a larger than life painting of R.D Burman smiling down at you).

This is a comfortable and homely place reviving the feeling of nostalgia of the golden era of popular music. To add to this I had gone there with a friend of mine and we chose to enjoy the atmosphere, the music, food and drinks till the evening; listening to live music and our song requestswhich were entertained made the day even more special.

For your dining experiencethe place has sandwiches, baked dishes, burgers, pasta, pizza, two eggs cooked to order, two eggs omelet cook to order, breakfast veg and nonveg platters, cereal, juice, fresh fruit, bread basket served with pancake syrup, vegetables, seafood, chicken, soups, salad, ice-cream and desserts.

Each category has a wide choice. The sandwiches are priced between Rs. 150 – Rs. 180 and the pastasrange from Rs. 200 – Rs. 300.

I chose the Spaghetti Bolognaise which was tasty and filling while my friend had the Spanish Omelets(Rs. 200) with Ham, and the Cheese French Toast (Rs. 150). We enjoyed the Fish and Chips which was freshly made and appetizing(Rs. 270). We wanted to try the Chili Garlic Prawns but decided to keep it for our next visit. Instead of coffee my friend had a Mango Sundae and loved every scoop of it!

Beverages at the café included Lemonade, Mojito, Cold Coffee, Hot Coffee, Soda Fizz, Tea Cucumber lemonade and the Cucumber Mojito.

I highly recommend a visit to PanchamErAdda where you can not only browse for lovely saris, scarves and jewelry, but also enjoy the music of RD Burman with a terrific choice of snacks and drinks.
