A Not-To-Miss Sunday Brunch At Zen

A seemingly spur-of-the-moment decision among friends to try out the Sunday buffet brunch at the Zen turned out to be a terrific culinary and dining experience, enjoyed by all partaking in a 2-hour natter, chatter and feast at the Park. My advice would be to indulge in this Sunday festivity on an empty stomach as the range of choice will spoil you.

You are provided with a choice of an outstanding selection ranging from Sushi/Sashimi/Maki to Salads, Soup, Starters, Dim sum, Curries and Veges from the kitchen, Rice and Noodles and Desserts. We entreat you to try it all but will focus on our favorites here.

The Prawn Tempura Maki was crisp, crunchy and fresh, accompanied with a variety of flavorful sauces and the asparagus Tempura Roll is highly recommended too. The signature dish was the salmon sushi was delicious and well presented. The sushi was packed with rice exactly as you wish it to be but seldom get in Kolkata. They say ‘God is in the Detail’, and the well-crafted Japanese menu was a delight!

For the starters, the Honey Chili Lotus Stem was a perfect blend of hot Szechwan Chili and Sweet Aromatic Honey. This was so delicious that we had to re-order another side just to satiate ourselves.

Among the soups, the Beijing Soup with Crispy Rice Noodles was an orginal and lingered on the taste buds.

For the mains we endorse the Fish in XO Sauce. The fillet was perfectly sliced with even pieces and the XO Sauce reminded you of the old Szechwan meals consumed in the city. This was followed by the Spinach in Coconut Curry Sauce, which was presented with a unique blend of coconut milk with aromatic spices. A must for vegetarian lovers.

Finally, the counters around the work stations provided us with a wide arrays of desserts ranging from Red Velvet Cupcakes, Molten Lava Pudding, Papaya Fool, Assorted Petit Fours and Ice Cream. The Chocolate Molten Lava Pudding with Vanilla Ice cream was universally approved by all. Among the various Petit fours – the lemon tart was a huge hit. The Zen Kitchen also whipped up another signature dish for us, not on the menu called the Porcupine Fried Custard with a dollop of Vanilla Ice-cream to cleanse our palate after the humongous meal and take away a fabulous experience.

The open kitchen at the Zen was one of the cleanest and well-kept ones we have eaten from in any of the 5-star properties in the country.

If you have an urge for Asian food, specifically Japanese cuisine, come with a large appetite and wallet and you will not be disappointed with the Park!

Buffet without drinks is Rs. 2,200+ and with liquor is Rs. 2,900+
