While the famous and greatly loved croissant is widely believed to be a quintessential French delicacy, the origin of this buttery, flaky pastry can be traced back to 13th century Austria. The kipferl or kifli, a crescent-shaped bread roll, is known as the ancestor of the croissant. For this Croissant Day, JW Marriott Kolkata is brining taste of delectable croissants, delicately crafted with much finesse, for guests to indulge in.
The Croissant Festival at JW Lounge, the property’s luxurious café, will offer a delicious array of savory and sweet croissant and sandwiches. The menu features “Baked Croissant Sandwich with Salmon”, the classic “Croque Monsieur Croissant”, “Bocconcini& Sweet Basil in Charcol Croissant”, amongst the savoury choices and “Raspberry Croissant”, “Praline Croffin”, and “Charcol Croissant” amongst the sweet selection. This sophisticated set of pastries curated by the hotel also includes choices closer to home, including “Paneer Tikka Croissant Sandwich” and “Iranian Pistachio Enrobed Croissant”.
