Indulge in the “Taste of Thailand Food Festival” at Vintage Asia

We have all been guilty, at least once, of stereotyping cuisines by just linking them to one particular dish from the cuisine. When one speaks of Thai cuisine, we only think of curries and coconut milk; Thai cuisine has so much more to offer. Busting myths and bringing to Kolkatans, a wide gamut of dishes highlighting the North, Central & Southern regions of Thailand, JW Marriott Kolkata is hosting a 9-day long Taste of Thailand Food Festival at their Signature Asian restaurant – Vintage Asia from 7 th till 16th September 2018.

Thai food is traditionally known for its unique mélange of flavors and taste- sweet, sour and tangy. Chef Samart Muesantat from Sheraton Samui Resort, Koh Samui is coming to the City of Joy to recreate the magic of Thai food with a menu featuring his signature selections.

The prelude of the Thai Food Festival will be hosted on 6th of September 2018 at Vintage Asia by JW Marriott Kolkata in association with The Royal Thai Consulate General Kolkata, honored by Ms. Asawapoom, Acting Consul – General. The evening will host a table of esteemed guests who will be taken on a culinary journey of authentic flavors from the roots of Thailand.

From the Northern region, guests can choose from ‘Lab Had (Aromatic mixed mushroom salad, mint, lime, chili)’, ‘Laab Gai (Spicy chicken salad, mint, lime, chili, ‘Larb Ped Yang (Roasted duck tossed, toasted ground rice, herbs, dried chili, lime)’from salads, ‘Lab Moo (BBQ pork salad with mint, lime and chili)’ and ‘Lab Had Thod (Aromatic fried mixed mushroom, mint, lime, chili)’ from appetizers, ‘Hoy Thod (Deep fried mussel, taro, and long bean chili sauce) from the main course and ‘Gaeng Phed Ped Yang (Red curry, roasted duck, green apple)’from curries.

Coming to the Central region, on offer will be delicacies like, ‘Yum Moo Yang (Grilled pork salad, cucumber, tomato, chili, lime dressing)’ among salads, ‘Tom Kha Tofu Had Rum (Tofu, mushrooms, coconut soup)’ and ‘Tom Yum Goong (Prawn soup, mushroom, Thai herb, kaffir lime leaves)’ from soups, ‘Tofu Satay (A mixture of grilled tofu satay, peanut sauce)’ from appetizers, ‘Phad Thai Goong (Stir-fried Thai rice noodle, prawns, egg, dried shrimp)’ from Stir- Fry, ‘Choo Chee Pla (Deep fried fish, dried red curry, kaffir lime leaves, coconut cream)’ from the main course and ‘Gaeng Karee Pak (Thai yellow curry, vegetables)’from the curries.

Taking a trip down South, guests will be spoilt with scrumptious dishes such as ‘Yum Tur Pu (Wing bean salad, dry toasted coconut)’ from salads, ‘Po Pia Tod (Deep fried Vegetables, Seaweed, glass noodles spring roll)’ from appetizers, ‘Goong Phad Med Ma Muang (Stir-fried prawns, cashew nuts chili oyster sauce)’ from Stir – Fry and ‘Gai Yang Ka Min (Marinated chicken with turmeric soya sauce Thai herb)’ and ‘Pla Thod (Deep fried fish with basil sweet chili sauce)’ from the main course.
