India’s most celebrated fashion event – Lakmé Fashion Week, invited aspiring models to walk the runway at its much-awaited Model Auditions at St. Regis, Mumbai. An esteemed panel of judges chose five winners – Jayalakshmi, Shwetaa, Scarlet, Stacy and Kate, after two competitive rounds of auditions, that saw around 100 aspiring Indian and International models participate.
The jury comprised of a mix of fashion experts and stalwarts of the Indian fashion industry including Malaika Arora – Model and Actor; Malini Agarwal – Founder and Creative Director of MissMalini Entertainment; Anu Ahuja – Fashion Show Director; Ashwath Swaminathan – Head of Innovations, Lakmé and Jaspreet Chandok – Vice President and Head of Fashion, IMG Reliance.
Lakmé Fashion Week Model Auditions is by far, India’s most popular and revered launch pad for budding models, having introduced some of the most successful names in the industry like Katrina Kaif, Yana Gupta, Mugdha Godse and Miss India World Kanishta Dhankar, among others. The initiative is an integral part of LFW’s commitment to continuously provide a foundation for new and emerging runway talent.
Malaika Arora, Model and Actor said, “I give full credit to each contestant who came today to audition as I understand their anxiety of being on the ramp. What we were looking for was individuality on the ramp and we were glad to have discovered that in the winners we chose today.”
Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019 is scheduled to take place from 30th January to 3rd February at Jio Garden, Bandra-Kurla Complex.
