Chefs Of India Celebrate Independence Day At The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat

Half the year has gone by in a jiffy and we are gradually closing in on celebrating Independence Day. India is a beautiful amalgamation of cultures, traditions, communities and festivals. Indian cuisine too is a blend of different cultures passing down their diverse culinary traditions giving way to innumerable delicacies across the length and breadth of the country.

Celebrating this culinary freedom and excellence, the brand-new property in town, The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat brings forth Chefs of India, where 4 chefs curate the cuisines of four zones of the country at Seasonal Tastes, the all-day dining hub of the property from August 3rd –15th, 2018. Celebrating the great cuisines India has given to us and the world, we have 4 chefs putting together the perfect mix of India at the Festival.

Chef Manish Kumar from JW Chandigarh who specializes in regional Punjabi cuisine, will be curating the cuisine of the North zone showcasing hot favorites of the region namely ‘Amritsari Choley Kulche’, ‘Amritsari Macchi’, ‘Aloo Wadiyan’, ‘Kadi’, ‘Rajmah’ and more. Highlighting delicacies of South with specialization in regional Andhra and Hyderabad cuisine is Chef Murali Krishna Majji from Hyderabad Marriott Hotel & Convention Centre and Courtyard Marriott. Dishes which we can expect at the celebration are ‘Kacchi Gosht ki Biryani’, ‘Salan’, ‘Haleem’, ‘Bagarey Baingan’, ‘Double ka Meetha’, ‘Khubani Ka Meetha’ and ‘Dosai’.

Chef Ananta Seth, the in-house chef at The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat will curate the menu for the East. On display, from Chef Ananta will be regional varieties like ‘Kosha Mangsho’, ‘Macher Cutlet’, ‘Lucchi’, ‘Cholar Dalna’, ‘Mochar chop’, ‘Chorchori’, ‘Bhaja’, ‘Sorse Ilish’, ‘Betki Paturi’, alongside desserts like ‘Sondesh’, ‘Rasagulla’, ‘Sor Bhaja’ and ‘Mishti Doi’. The fourth chef part of Chefs of India will be in-house chef, Chef Ashish Shahi who will delight our tastebuds with specialties of the West such as ‘Gatta Curry’, ‘Ker Saangri’, ‘Laal Maas’, ‘Safed Maas’, ‘Murgh Shekhawati’, ‘Dal Baati’, ‘Khasta Kachori’, ‘Misri Mawa’, ‘Mawa ki Kachori’ to name a few. The live stations will be abuzz with assorted dishes like ‘Kheema Kaleji’, ‘Dosai’, ‘Dal Baati Churma’, ‘Amritsari Kulche’, ‘Amritsari Macchi’, ‘Paav Bhaji’, ‘Sol Kadi’, ‘Paani Patasi’ cooked to perfection for the guests.

Speaking about the concept of the festival, Chef Vikash Prasad, Executive Chef, The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat says, “On the occasion of our great country celebrating its Independence Day, we are showcasing Chefs of India at Seasonal Tastes with each Chef representing one zone of India. It’s our way of saluting our country and an opportunity for our patrons to sample the diverse cuisines of India under one roof”. Apart from the elaborate buffet, on offer will also be a Liquid Buffet priced at Rs. 650 AI for guests and patrons.
