'Water, water, everywhere, nor any drop to drink'. This is one of the iconic lines from one of the famous poems by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. A soon-to-be-true fact for the world as the scientists predict that most developing countries will be facing acute water crisis in the next few years. Even the United Nations recognizes the importance of addressing the global water crisis every year on World Water Day on March 22nd.

Globally, 844 million people lack access to clean water. A thought which should compel everyone to rethink about their water usage. Remember access to clean water changes a lot of things as it's a stepping stone to progress and development.

Did you know that Jamshedpur is the only city in the country where you can drink water directly out of a tap? As a first in the country, Jamshedpur leverages technology to get ahead of problems and find solutions. In most of the cities, getting water safely to consumers without wastage is a humungous task. Singapore has set the benchmark with 5.8% of non-revenue water. Jamshedpur stands at an impressive 6.6%.

With the help of a centrally controlled system which monitors and predicts damage to underground pipes, and researches on the geography of each area, the system developed by JUSCO can predict the problems even before they occur. The Long Range Wide Area Network [LoRaWAN] connectivity helps in day-to-day operations. The monitoring devices are normally attached to water towers, pipelines, manholes and to feed intelligence for everyday operations.

Jamshedpur is the first city in the country to have Zero Liquid Discharge; no liquid waste pollutes any of the water bodies in the Steel City. Of course, it is not an easy task for an industrial city. The household sewage is normally treated at sewage treatment plants for each industry which ensures that water will be 100% pollutant-free.
