Qissaa and Co-Optex Present Handloom Weaves

Qissaa together with Co-optex for the first time, bring to Kolkata, their cotton and silk saree range from Tamil Nadu, which is produced by highly skilled traditional handloom weavers.

Some of the cotton sarees at the exhibition will include: Organic cotton sarees, Sungudi, Chettinadu, Kanchee, Dindigul, Manamedu, Aruppukottai, Negamam, Salem and Ponnai Tie and Dye Sarees with attractive designs and color combinations.

Beautifully made Kanjeevaram Silk Sarees will also be on display. These sarees are woven with vibrant colours and subdued hues utilizing contrasting borders and body in block colors woven with the ‘Korvai’ and Petni techniques. The design inspirations are from the temple reliefs and sculptures also with some influence from Persian and European motifs. Traditional motifs such as “Rudraksham” Annam, Elephant, Yazhi, Vanki, Thutrippoo, Neli and Temple Reku etc. have also been used.
