Premier Photo Exhibition on European Heritage Structures

Calcutta Heritage Collective (CHC) is a voluntary citizen’s initiative formed with the objective of restoring, reviving and promoting Kolkata and West Bengal’s heritage structures through a broad range of activities including creative re-use and conservation of properties and spreading awareness in a number of ways. We are committed to honor our unique and irreplaceable inheritance by marrying heritage with urban development. We are united by our dream and our aim as well as our Vision to Respect, Restore and Reuse Heritage and carry it forward as a Living Legacy.

Acknowledging the immediate need to preserve our heritage and at the same time to create awareness, to love, pay attention to and resuscitate such legacies, we aim to formally introduce the Group through ‘VIVA’ – a unique exhibition of photography by the acclaimed Photographer and TOI UK and Europe Correspondent, Kounteya Sinha, with over 35 photographs taken across the globe through his travels over the years, revealing marvels created by the human hand. It reiterates the idea that antiquities of great architectural value aren’t mere objects that need to perish they age but are a repository of human life.

“Being a heritage activist I have always believed that we should preserve the past for the future. For me, a concerted effort to preserve our heritage is a vital link to our cultural, educational, aesthetic, inspirational and economic legacies − all of the things that quite literally make us who we are,” noted Ayan Chattopadhyay, co-founder of CHC.

CHC is organizing an exhibition which is open to the public on 17th and 18th of March, 2018, at the Emami Foundation, 48B Muktaram Babu Street, Kolkata 700 007. All are welcome.
