Usually people are used to seeing large billboards, or wall paintings commonly called ‘street art’ in their cities. This Mahalaya Kolkata awoke to the largest Alpona (Floor Painting) in the streets, definitely the longest such in the country and probably in the world, to inaugurate what is to be the largest cultural festivities in the world – the celebrations of the Pujas! The event was sponsored by Pantaloons on their 20th year anniversary. This was undertaken by students from the art college who worked assiduously throughout the night helping to transform a sleepy and stylish neighborhood into a vibrant and the most talked-about, happening street in the city.
