Hard Rock Café celebrated its Grand Opening Party on Friday, 11 May 2018 with the biggest bash the city has seen for the year!
There were over 500 of the city’s party goers from Consulate Generals, Industrialists to the Tollywood fraternity, Medical Experts, Fashion Designers, Models to the young and happening − in short − everyone who mattered were present.
The event was curated and hosted by Tehnaz Dastoor with Digital Branding (including all blogging) supervised and undertaken by Ritusmita Biswas.
Once the guests were comfortable with their drinks the evening’s festivities began.
Kolkata’s very own singing sensation Usha Uthup (accompanied by her daughter and grand-daughter) belted out old and new favorites as she encouraged the guests to sing along with her. From Dum Maro Dum, Darling, Kolavari Di, to the Bond favorite, Skyfall and Hava Nagela, her repertoire stretched from the 70s through to the present.
The mandatory guitar smashing took place after Usha had entertained the crowd for an hour with 5 guitars being smashed simultaneously by David (Area Vice President, EMEA, Hard Rock International), Vanita Bajoria (Director HRC, Kolkata), Aditya (Director, Emami Group of Companies) and Richa Agarwal, and celebrated personalities of the city like Ratul Sood together with Tollywood actress Swastika, and Parno all took place under much curiosity by everyone.
Mr. Amit Bajoria then generously donated 5 brand new guitars to the NGO Sanjivanee. David, and Sanjay Mahtani (JSM Proprietor) popped a bottle of bubbly in celebration of the Official Grand Opening of Hard Rock Kolkata and shared this with a few close friends.
Following this, the rock band Indian Ocean rocked the house till 11 pm after which the DJ took over and the dance floor and entire restaurant swayed, rocked and grooved to the latest tracks on hand till the early hours of the morning.
During the entire evening, Cyrus Irani, Brand Executive Chef – Pan India and Africa Operations for the JSM Corporation outdid himself with a fabulous array of 18 appetizers some of which included Avocado Cream Cheese, Tangerine Chili, Spicy Corn And Cheese Philo Wraps, Creole Spice Wedges, Korean Dumpling Nachos, Chicken Satey, Bloody Mary Prawn Shots, Katsu Chicken Slider, Smoked Salmon and Dill Cream Crostini, Cajun Chicken Crostini on Guacamole Aioli and Chocolate Brownies.
Each appetizer was better than the next and the bar was ably managed by an array of the city’s best who not only served the alcoholic drinks but also created some designer cocktails for the guests-in-waiting.
JSM Proprietor Sanjay and his lovely wife Barkha Mahtani, David as well as Tarek Gaber (Director of Operations Eurasia and Africa, Hard Rock International) were all on hand to show their support for this fantastic event which few have witnessed in the city!
